About this file

The document contains specifications for a portable micro-Gas Chromatograph (GC) required by the state of Illinois. The GC must be capable of detecting permanent gases and light hydrocarbons, with a throughput of at least 20 samples per hour. It must include the GC unit, power supply, computer, software, connections, setup, and training. The GC should be compact, portable, and able to operate in the field using a vehicle power converter and portable gas cylinders. All components must be easily replaceable or repairable. The GC must meet specific performance requirements, including injection volumes, oven temperature range, repeatability, and detection ranges for various compounds.

The contract opportunity requires a complete 4-channel GC system, including a laptop computer and software. The state of Illinois is the procuring agency. The document indicates the use of a brand name is to describe the desired quality and performance, and "or equal" submissions will be considered. Vendors must provide product literature with their quotes, and shipping costs must be included. The product must be new, unused, and free from defects.

Specifications for Portable micro-Gas Chromatograph Agilent Brand Name or Equivalent

• The instrument specifications are for a micro-Gas Chromatograph (GC) for the detection of pennanent gases and light hydrocarbons.

• The GC must be fast enough to run 20 samples per hour and rugged enough to sustain this throughput continuously.

• The system should include the GC, power supply, a computer, software, all connections, setup of GC, and training of personnel.

• The GC unit should be linked to a computer for data analysis and storage.

• For field analysis of samples a laptop computer is required

• The Gas chromatograph needs to be compact enough to be easily portable

• The GC must also be able to be used in the field running off of a converter from a vehicle for electric power (not supplied) and individual portable gas cylinders (not supplied)

• Malfunctioning parts within the GC must be able to be quickly and easily be replaced or repaired independently of other components within each channel.

• Gas Chromatograph specifications:

o Software selectable injection volumes of 1 µL to 10 µL o Each column is backflush capable o Oven capable of temperatures of30 to 180 degrees Celsius o Dual-channel four-filament micro thermal conductivity detector o Linear range of five orders of magnitude or greater o Less than one percent RSD repeatability o Minimum of twenty samples per hour throughput o Single injection for the determination of all compounds o Capable of injection by internal pump or by luer-lock syringe o Inlet connections for two external gas supplies o Individual replaceable components (detector, injector, column, etc.) within each of the four channels o Simultaneous analysis of four channels:

Molesieve SA with argon carrier Moleseive SA with helium carrier Poraplot U with a helium carrier Poraplot Q with a helium carrier

• Compounds oflnterest and Detection Ranges required by the instrument:

o Methane (l0ppm/100%) o Carbon monoxide (lOppm/10%) o Carbon dioxide (lOppm/100%) o Oxygen (l00ppm/30%) o Nitrogen (l0ppm/100%) o Hydrogen (l0ppm/10%) o Ethane (l0ppm/15%) o Ethylene (lOppm/10%) o Acetylene (l0ppm/10%) o Propane ( l0ppm/10%) o Propylene (l0ppm/10%) o Argon (by calculation) (100ppm/S%)

• The main power supply for the instrument must be 110 volt AC, 60 Hz with a maximum 2SOW power consumption

• A computer must be includt:d and should control all GC functions, data analysis, and storage

• Open Lab CDS software is required to run the GC to expedite emergency analysis

• GC software must be compatible with Microsoft Office capable of exporting to Excel

• The GC must be able to be transported by simply disconnecting the power and gas supply

(no internal disassembly or securing)

• The GC must weigh less than 40 lbs and have a maximum size of 1.5 cubic feet

The use of brand name is to describe the standard of quality, performance and characteristics desired and is not intended to limit or restrict competition. “Or Equal” submissions will not be rejected because of minor differences in design, construction or features that do not affect the suitability of the product for its intended use. Burden of proof that the product is equal is on the bidder.

Vendor should provide product literature with the quote. Shipping costs to be included with bid. Product must be new, unused and free from defects.
