About this file
This is a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) document issued by Miami-Dade County for structural repair and coating work at the Northeast Transfer Station Truck Wash Building. The project scope encompasses repair of corroded steel columns, fabrication and installation of temporary support systems, and comprehensive recoating of the facility's entire steel structure. The work includes removal and disposal of six corroded column bases to approximately two feet above concrete, cutting and coating exposed anchor bolts with galvanized paint, temporary removal and reinstallation of features supported by the columns, furnishing and installation of replacement steel stub columns with associated plates and bracing, and complete surface preparation and recoating of all steel elements including sandblasting, welding, and painting. The project also requires inspection for lead-based paint presence and abatement procedures if necessary, as well as repair of any structural defects discovered during construction.
The RFQ document specifies technical requirements for the temporary support bracket system, which is designed to support one column at a time and be reused for each of the six columns requiring base replacement. All work must comply with applicable building codes and engineering standards for steel fabrication and installation. The project requires contractors to demonstrate relevant experience with structural steel repair, corrosion remediation, and surface preparation techniques. Specific response deadlines, bid amounts, contract term duration, and award procedures are contained within the complete RFQ documentation, which establishes the qualifications and experience criteria that prospective bidders must meet to be considered for this infrastructure improvement project.
