LBNL Response to Question 01 Re: LBNL RFP MG-09042024 – 09/20/2024

1. What serial numbers need to be recorded for each assembly? Are they the Allen Bradley parts only?

LBNL Response: No hardware serial number record is required. An ALS-U asset ID will be provided for each unit.

LBNL will use it as its serial number and will track them through LBNL’s Asset Management System. The following picture shows an example of a recent AR MPS D unit, which was handed off to the Injection and Extraction Group.

2. When there are unused pins in a cable, can we cut off the unused wires or do you want them to be buried for future use? i.e. molded DSUB cables with unused wires, 7C cables, etc.

LBNL Response: Cutoff unless specified.

3. Are shrink tube labels required or can we use Panduit wrap-around labels? Some of the photos show wrap-around labels being used.

LBNL Response: Per section 6.1.1 of SOW heat shrink must be used when possible. Section 5.5 chassis is a picture of a prototype with wrap-around labels but production units may have heat shrink. Certain deviations must be reviewed and approved.

4. Can we swap out hardware with Loctite already on it instead of using the liquid kind, when available? i.e. McMaster-Carr 91772A146 replaced with 96562A146.

LBNL Response: There are not many screws that require liquid Loctite and deviation must be reviewed and approved.

5. In the FAI Approval section Article II, note D, it states if the first article is disapproved then the Subcontractor must submit an additional first article for testing. How does that work if we are only assembling 1 unit?

Do we need to include in our quote material for 2 units? i.e. Model B and Model C chassis.

LBNL Response: Only one First Article unit per specified group and Section

3.1 of SOW states how these units are handled.

6. On assembly AL-1445-6303, the TC wire is missing from the bom.

LBNL Response: TC wire is listed as “Cable, TC” in AL-1445-6303-C D.4.

7. On assembly AL-1445-6303, do we need din rail mounts for the Winford added to the bom or does the part number come with mounts?

LBNL Response: Mounting nuts are listed as “PG80 thru 92 Nut” in AL-1445- 6303-C D.4.

8. Is there a substitute part list AL-1593-3824? I don't believe I received this document.

LBNL Response: There is no substitute. Document included with this response.
