About this file
This document is a technical specification for the Mediatrix 4124 VoIP gateway device related to a contract opportunity for the State of Maine. The Mediatrix 4124 is designed to enable cost-effective Voice over Internet Protocol deployments in medium-size branch offices and multi-tenant applications, supporting up to 24 simultaneous calls with carrier-grade voice quality. The device features high compression codecs on each analog voice port to conserve bandwidth, web-based management interfaces for convenient configuration, and auto-provisioning capabilities that allow secure, transparent installation through encrypted configuration files fetched from TFTP or HTTP servers. A key operational feature is intelligent PSTN bypass functionality, which ensures users can make emergency calls and maintain phone service during power outages or network failures, thus providing essential service continuity.
The Mediatrix 4124 offers substantial operational and financial benefits through its support for Fax over IP with T.38 protocol, SNMP and web-based management systems, and security features including SNMPv3 support, encrypted configuration files, and HTTP Digest authentication. The device is designed for interoperability with equipment from leading industry vendors and enables significant cost savings through reduced long-distance and PSTN access fees, elimination of new wiring infrastructure, and the ability to reuse existing analog phones and faxes. Its compliance with current legacy standards ensures compatibility with existing PBX or Key systems, making it a practical solution for organizations seeking to modernize their communication infrastructure while protecting existing investments.
