About this file
This is a marine vessel repair specification document for the Alabama Marine Resources Division (MRD) related to Biological Boat Repair solicitation 54-81503. The project involves comprehensive repairs and upgrades to a 32-foot Silvership 2006 vessel equipped with dual Suzuki DF350A outboard motors and a Honda EU7000is generator. Work includes multiple repair and replacement tasks: haul-out and dry storage services, propeller replacement, window seal repairs, swim ladder installation, battery relocation, air conditioner replacement, bilge pump relocation, navigation and deck lighting repairs, electrical system inspections, steering system repairs, generator replacement, Garmin electronics installation (replacing Furuno systems), sonar mount replacement, and custom fabrication of a damaged sonar kick stand arm. Additional line items include supply of safety equipment (Sirius signal kit, dock lines, life ring), trailer bunk notching for sling access, and bottom sling marking. A mandatory pre-bid meeting and vessel inspection is scheduled for April 22nd at 11:00 am at 999 Commerce Drive, Gulf Shores, Alabama 36542, with Craig Newton (251-293-3734) as the point of contact.
Eligible contractors must meet specific qualifications: the lead technician must possess at least five continuous years of experience servicing and rigging vessels for scientific data collection; the work facility must be located at least 14 feet above sea level; and the vessel must remain within 50 miles of the MRD Gulf Shores office during repairs due to trailer structural integrity concerns requiring MRD staff oversight. All quoted prices must include labor, parts, supplies, materials, and fees necessary to complete each line item. Long-term dry storage is quoted as a separate line with a fee schedule to be provided by the vendor. All workmanship, installations, modifications, fabrication, and related tasks must comply with or exceed American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) safety and performance guidelines, with all components and materials meeting or exceeding the same ABYC requirements. Labor and parts are available as incidental lines for any additional repairs discovered during the work, subject to MRD approval.
