About this file

This document is an Addenda 1 to an Invitation for Bids (IFB) issued by the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) in partnership with participating municipalities and school districts in Eastern Massachusetts to solicit bids for the supply and delivery of fresh produce to schools. The IFB has been extended until June 21, 2024 at 3:00 PM, with the bid opening occurring at 4:00 PM on the same day. The IFB covers a wide range of produce items, including lettuce, without the ability to adjust bid prices for potential market volatility on processed items like chopped romaine. Bidders are advised to consider potential price fluctuations when submitting their proposals.

The pricing structure and any set-asides or incumbent information were not provided in the document. Additionally, details on funding requirements and sources were not included. Prospective bidders are advised to review the full bid package for complete details on the contract opportunity.

Addendum 1

Issued 6/10/2024

1. The bid due date has been extended until June 21, 2024 at 3:00 PM. The opening will occur at 4:00 on the same day.

Q: Can we have a little clarification on this trigger in regard to Chopped Romaine ? Does the trigger below refer to 24CT romaine listed on the USDA FOB sheet ? There is not a trigger for processed romaine on the USDA website

A: As listed on the Price Quote tab in the Price Quote Workbook, there is no ability to adjust the bid price for “Lettuce, Romaine, Chopped 1"x1", 6x2lbs, Vac. Pack - Must be East Coast Cut”. The bid price must account for potential volatility in the market. The USDA FOB reporting for 24ct romaine does not apply to the chopped romaine specification. Processed items that may include using lower grade produce, varying yields, additional labor, packaging, overhead, storage and distribution are not necessarily accurately reflected on USDA reporting. All potential bidders should consider potential price volatility for such items.
