About this file
This document is a set of Question and Answer responses related to a Request for Information (RFI) for a Lightweight Counter Mortar Radar (LCMR) Replacement.
The key details are:
- The RFI requires 360-degree indirect fire detection coverage with a minimum range of 500 meters and preferred maximum range of 20 kilometers, ideally able to detect medium-sized rockets, artillery, and mortars.
- The preferred power source is the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV), with an assumed available power of 10 kW.
- The system must be mounted on a single JLTV, with a 5,100 lb payload capacity available.
- There is no established target price point, but Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) funds are available in FY25.

# Question Response
In section 3- description: “Provide 360-degree indirect fire (IDF) detection coverage with a minimum detection range of 500 meters and preferred maximum detection range of 20 kilometers or greater.” What target size or target type do you want the sensor to detect at 20km?
Ideally, medium sized rocket, artillery, and mortars out to 20km. If that is not feasible, provide what is feasible in your response.
In section 3- description: “Preferred power source is the JLTV” How much vehicle power do you expect will be available from the JLTV – (We are assuming 10kw unless we hear otherwise) Assume 10 kw.
In section 3- description: “Require no more than one Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) for transportation of the system” Do they desire the radar to be mounted on the JLTV or towed?
If mounted, how much payload weight is available?
Mounted on one JLTV with no trailer or can be mounted/must be able to be used dismounted.
JLTV Payload available for the 2DR payload is 5,100 lbs.
4 Is there a target price point? No target price-point has been established.
5 Is there any development money available? If so, what is the development timeline? RDT&E funds are available in FY25.
