About this file
This document is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) for Vibratory Compactors. The Marine Corps seeks to purchase 50 new vibratory compactors to replace their current inventory, which has exceeded its expected service life. The RFI outlines detailed technical requirements, including performance specifications such as compaction rates of 1,500-1,700 cubic yards per hour, compatibility with military fuel types (JP5, JP8, F24), and ability to operate in temperatures ranging from -25°F to 125°F. Key transportability requirements include being able to fit in C-17 and C-5 aircraft, be sling-loaded by CH-53K helicopters, and transported via multiple modes including rail, marine, and highway.
The procurement timeline indicates the Request for Proposal (RFP) will be released in the 1st Quarter of Fiscal Year 2027, with contract award expected in the 3rd Quarter of the same year. The contract will be a 5-year Firm Fixed Price (FFP) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. Vendors are requested to provide information including monthly production rates, vibratory frequency adjustment range, rough order of magnitude pricing, manufacturing capabilities, and small business program qualifications. Responses must be submitted via PDF to tommie.klise@usmc.mil by 15 July 2025 at 1400 Eastern Time, with specific cover page requirements for submission.

Description
Product Manager, Engineer Systems (PdM ES), Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM), is conducting market research for potential sources to purchase Vibratory Compactors. Compaction equipment is required by ground and aviation units to support various types of horizontal construction. Examples are construction of roads, airfield complexes, dams, open storage areas, hard stands for vehicle and equipment parks; repair of bomb damage on airfields; and compaction of building sites.
USMC’s current inventory of Vibratory Compactors has surpassed its expected service life and will be over 25 years old at the time of fielding a refreshed capability. The Marine Corps estimates a new buy of 50 Vibratory Compactors. The Request for Proposal (RFP) is expected to be released in 1st Quarter Fiscal Year 2027. The contract is expected to be awarded in 3rd Quarter Fiscal Year 2027. The contract is expected to be a 5-year Firm Fixed Price (FFP) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract.
