First Article sample is rejected if the total number of non-conformances identified exceeds the maximum allowance of 2 non-conformances (cumulative) for any combination of the characteristics except pull forces, and the maximum of 3 non-conformances at same temperature does not apply.

4.1 Design verification. When specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.4), a sample of Practice Stun Grenades, Practice Stun Grenade Bodies, and/or Charge Assemblies shall be subjected to design verification in accordance with Table I of this specification.

4.1.1 Product uniformity.

4.1.1.1 Key characteristics. During design verification, key characteristics identified and classified shall be reviewed for complete and adequate identification, appropriate classification, and application of sampling plan. For each key characteristic, objective evidence shall be provided during first article inspection and conformance inspection in accordance with identified sampling plan to demonstrate that the product meets its established baseline limits (see 6.7).

4.1.1.2 Material. Objective evidence provided during first article inspection and conformance inspection shall be examined to verify that the material is the same as the material qualified in product baseline during design verification (see 6.7).

4.1.1.3 Product baseline. Objective evidence provided during first article inspection shall be examined to verify that all requirements specified in the product baseline (TDP) are met. Five sets of components, subassemblies and assemblies shall be subjected to a physical configuration audit (PCA) to establish and verify the product baseline (see 6.7).

4.1.2 Design verification quantity. Design verification quantities shall be 2500 Practice Stun Grenades, Practice Stun Grenade Bodies, and/or Charge Assemblies. Multiple tests can be combined to reduce sample size upon approval (see 6.4).
