STATEMENT OF WORK

PROJECT: Little Rock Air Force Base Film Digitization Project

FILM INVENTORY:

- Twenty (20) seven inch 8mm film reels in metal cases/tins

- Twenty-one (21) 3.75 inch 16mm film reels in 100’ rolls in cardboard boxes

- One (1) 3.75 inch 8mm film reel in 25’ roll in a cardboard box

- Three (3) five inch film reels in metal cases/tins

A total of 45 reels of film. Estimate maybe 10,000-12,000 feet of film.

REQUIREMENT:

The 314th Airlift Wing at Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville, Arkansas, has a collection of WW2-era and 1950s film reels that we want to digitize. Some of the film reels are starting to succumb to the early stages of vinegar syndrome (i.e., you can smell that the acetate is degrading but there’s not too much warping or deformation yet on most of the reels), so we are hoping to find a company that is able to save and convert as many of these as possible before they degrade any further.

We are seeking to have this film converted to digital format in the following ways:

- Digitized to DVD(s), Preferably as Accessible Digital Files (Not Auto-Play)

- Digitized to USB Stick/External Drive

- Frame-by-Frame Digital Images (.JPG/.TIFF/etc. format)

We would want all applicable image enhancement/correction available (provided it maintains the integrity of the original recording), as well as any sound syncing as applicable (if there is sound associated with any of the film).

TIMELINE:

We want the film converted as safely and completely as possible, preferring accurate digitization and conservation over a quick turnaround.
