RFQ LOFM010-21 Q & A
Q Nearly every manufacturer in the country is at 4-6 weeks right now due to the constant price increases and resin shortages, so I wanted to see if that was accurate. The close date is 8/23 and the required delivery date is 9/7, so even if the bid was awarded the same day it closed, that would only leave 13 business days for production and delivery. This is a custom film that would not just be available off the shelf, so it would need to be produced.
Answer: We expect for the order to take 6-8 weeks for delivery we are aware of the issues. Delivery date will be changed when award is made.
1) Do you know if this is passing through a heat tunnel or just being sealed around the product?
Answer: Sealed around the product
2) I would like to verify if the specifications in section B allow for a substitute” HIGH-CLARITY-10.75X2.75MIL-FILM- (CLEAR) 15% LLDPE” with a biodegradable (plant-based) plastic alternative to “LLDPE”?
Answer: No substitutions will be entertained at this time. The current material works best with the equipment that is in place. Future requirements may allow for samples of substitute products to be submitted.
3) Is there any specs for the material past the description in the solicitation?
Answer: Three (3) examples of specs that have worked well in the past have been attached to the RFQ Post.
4) How is the clarity of the material to be measured?
Answer:
5) What does the 15% LLDPE referencing mean, is this a specific poly blend?
Answer: 15% low density polyethylene has always been in the blend.
6) Is the material a COEX or Lamination?
Answer: Not sure on that requirement when it comes to this film.
7) What are the requirements for packaging the individual rolls for shipping?
Answer: As long as the rolls meet specs on size the shipping is 100% up to the vendor
8) Are they individually wrapped and boxed?
Answer: In the past no but again is up to the vendor to ship and package.
9) 35,000lbs. of film is the total need. Do you know if that volume will be ordered as one shipment, or will it be broken down into multiple shipments over a period of time?
Answer: This will be ordered as one shipment, but if offerors need to deliver in multiple shipments, freight costs should be included in the quote to cover all deliveries necessary.
10) How wide are the rolls and what thickness?
Answer: Diameter is 15-15.125 inches with a 3 inch core
