About this file

This file contains questions for spacecraft vendors participating in NASA's Landsat Next (LNext) Project Industry Week. The document outlines five key areas that vendors must address during their dedicated sessions: heritage spacecraft capabilities that can meet LNext requirements, historical development schedules for similar missions, recommendations for commercial best practices to reduce costs, experience combining spacecraft and launch vehicle procurements, and capabilities in mission readiness testing and operations support.

The questions specifically request details about vendors' existing spacecraft platforms and necessary modifications to meet LNext mission requirements, including size, weight, power, instrument interfaces, launch vehicle packaging, and high-speed data downlink capabilities. Vendors must also address their development timelines, experience with multiple concurrent builds, and potential cost-saving measures through reductions in oversight, Statement of Work (SOW), or Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) requirements. The document is part of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's LNext Spacecraft Procurement Industry Week, scheduled for March 2024, with vendor sessions occurring between March 10-14.

LNext Project Questions to Spacecraft (SC) Vendors for LNext Industry Week

The LNext Project requests that each industry vendor be prepared to address the following questions during the dedicated session:

Do you have heritage spacecraft that can be adapted to meet Landsat Next requirements?

• Please provide a high-level overview of the heritage offering and identify the scope of changes necessary to support the LNext mission.

• Specifically, share how your offering meets the size, weight, power, instrument interface support, Launch Vehicle (LV) packaging, and high-speed data downlink requirements for LNext.

Can you provide a historical development schedule for heritage missions of similar scope?

• Nominal spacecraft development timeline.

• Nominal observatory integration and test and launch timeline.

• Experience or approach to handling multiple concurrent builds.

Are you able to recommend any commercial best practices that could be leveraged to provide cost and schedule savings relative to our baseline requirements?

• Key areas to consider include reductions in oversight, Statement of Work (SOW), or reductions in Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL), that could provide notable savings.

• What is your experience implementing these commercial best practices for missions that fully met their performance and lifetime requirements?

What experience do you have combining spacecraft and LV procurements?

• Identify technical and programmatic advantages or disadvantages in using this approach.

Provide an overview of your experience in, or capabilities in mission readiness testing and support and operations, if applicable.
