About this file

The document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for Lightning Protection Repairs at the Central Utility Plant (CUP) for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The SOW details comprehensive repair and corrective maintenance requirements for the Lightning Protection System (LPS), specifically addressing deficiencies identified in an inspection report. Required work includes repairing bonding and grounding issues, securing rooftop conductors, replacing or reinstalling air terminals, and ensuring full compliance with NFPA 780 standards.

Key technical specifications mandate that all materials used must be corrosion-resistant and compatible with existing components. Contractors must provide qualified personnel with credentials such as LPI Master Installer, submit personnel resumes, and handle all necessary fall protection while assessing roof conditions. The solicitation requires interested parties to identify their business size and socio-economic status (e.g., Small Business, 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, WOSB) and submit a capabilities statement demonstrating relevant lightning protection system installation or repair experience. Note that surge protection device (SPD) installation is explicitly excluded from the scope of work.
