4. PROJECT DETAILS

4.1. Fiber Optic Cable Installation

Installation of Fiber Optic cable from the East Side Neighborhood Resource Center (ESNRC), located at

153 Spruce St, to the construction site of the new library located at 1041 Main St. The new fiber will be overlashed with existing fiber on Spruce St. where fiber exists. Fiber will need to be attached to new poles that will require make-ready applications. Fiber will be run overhead from the ESNRC to the library construction site. From the last pole, the fiber is required to be in underground conduit to the library building. This part of the project will require coordination with other contractors working on the library project.

The proposal should include two scenarios. Scenario one would include a single fiber run from ESNRC to the library site via either Maple St or Eldridge St. Scenario two would include two fiber runs to provide redundancy: the fiber run stated in scenario one and a fiber run from Bennet Academy to the new library site via School St, Spruce St and Eldridge St.

The proposed fiber will contain 48 strands and be equivalent to the Altos Loose Tube, Gel Free Cable, G.652.D Single-mode (OS2) fiber. The approximate length of scenario one is about 2,500 feet not including any storage loops. The approximate length of scenario two is approximately 5,000 feet not including any storage loops. The vendor should propose alternate routes or storage loops as needed so it is understood that the length may change.

All terminations will be SC connectors. 24 fiber strands will be terminated at each location. A new enclosure will be required in the library building. The current ESNRC and Bennet Academy configurations should be evaluated to ensure it will support the additional fiber terminations or if a new enclosure will be needed.

This RFP does not specify all hardware components required to complete this job. Vendors are expected to include all hardware and labor costs necessary to complete the fiber install, terminations and testing.
