About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document related to a Maryland Department of Natural Resources solicitation for the Lee Property at Gunpowder Falls State Park in Baltimore County. The project involves replacing the roof, four windows, and upgrading the plumbing system at the facility located at 4401 Stansbury Mill Road, Monkton, Maryland 21111. The Q&A document addresses contractor inquiries regarding specifications for the water system components, including the chemical chlorination system, pressure tank, filtration equipment, and basement entry routing for the new 2-inch waterline.
Key technical clarifications provided include confirmation that a 30-gallon solution tank is acceptable for the chemical chlorination system, approved equivalent products are acceptable for the pressure tank if documentation of equal performance is provided, and the contractor is responsible for furnishing and properly sizing sediment filtration equipment to accommodate 6-8 GPM for 2-3 people according to manufacturer instructions. The contractor must confirm feasibility of utilizing the existing waterline run extending from the porch area through the crawl space to the mechanical room without requiring excavation or wall drilling, with the state indicating access exists to accommodate the work using standard utility installation methods.

Questions and Answers Report
Q.1: The Chemical Chlorination System- Please confirm the preferred Solution tank size.
Please Advise of a specific brand or model is required, or if approved equals are acceptable.
A.1: A 30 Gallon solution tank is acceptable. Approved equals will be accepted if you can provide documentation on equal performance.
Q.2: The pressure tank- Specifications reference the Flex2Pro WWT120(119 gal). Please confirm whether this exact model is required or if approved equivalents are acceptable.
A.2: Approved equals will be accepted if you can provide documentation on equal performance.
Q.3: The Filtration Equipment- The specifications reference sediment filtration (e.g., Big Blue type) without a defined model. Please confirm whether the contractor shall include furnishing these filters in the proposal. If so, please advise any preferred manufacturers or required sizes.
A.3: The Contractor is responsible for furnishing this filter into the project scope. No specific model is called out, but the filter must be sized ,according to the manufacturer’s instructions, to provide proper filtration for 6-8 GPM/2-3 people.
Q.4: The basement Entry and Routing of New 2” line- Please confirm the intended routing into the basement mechanical room. Will the new 2” well line enter underground through the basement wall, or should the line exit the exterior wall and transition to copper inside the mechanical room? Please confirm whether the basement slab elevation is sufficiently below grade to accommodate underground entry.
A.4: There is no need to transition to copper lines. The existing system has waterlines extending from under the porch area to the mechanical room in a crawl space area. DNR wants to utilize this “run” for the extended waterlines. As it stands, there is access to accommodate work without excavation and drilling through walls. It is up to the contractor to confirm this is achievable with their standard methods of work for utility work.
