About this file
This is a Notice of Intent to Purchase Single/Sole Source Commodities and Services issued by Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) Procurement Services Department for KbPort, LLC. The procurement concerns KbPort Workstations on Wheels (WOWs) and Medication Dispensing Cabinets designed for nursing education at Erwin Technical College in Tampa, Florida. These devices are intended to provide students with hands-on experience in medication administration safety and electronic medical record maintenance using industry-standard hospital technology. The equipment includes barcode scanning and patient wristband verification capabilities to prepare nursing students for real-world clinical environments. The single/sole source posting period runs from Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. through Wednesday, March 7, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., with a three-business-day protest period scheduled from Monday, March 10, 2025, through Wednesday, March 12, 2025. Interested firms may respond by uploading documentation to www.vendorlink.com demonstrating their capability to provide equivalent or superior products and services.
HCPS asserts that KbPort's products are unique and cannot be obtained from alternative sources because these carts have become industry norms in hospital settings and are essential for preparing students with transferable skills for clinical practice. The procurement determination rests solely with the General Manager of Procurement Services, who will evaluate all responses received during the seven-business-day posting period to determine whether legitimate competition exists. If no "like" commodities or services are identified from competing vendors, HCPS will recommend to the School Board approval to waive competitive solicitation and proceed directly with the sole-source purchase from KbPort, LLC. No specific budget amount, pricing terms, set-asides, or contract renewal options are stated in the notice. Any protest must be filed timely with the General Manager of Procurement Services at 901 E. Kennedy Boulevard, Tampa, Florida 33602.
