About this file
This is a Performance Specification document for the Joint Biological Tactical Detection System (JBTDS), a lightweight, battery-operated, man-portable system designed to detect, collect, and identify airborne Biological Warfare Agents (BWAs) that threaten the Joint Force. The JBTDS comprises three integrated modular capabilities: a Detection-Collection sensor capability, an Identification capability, and a Data Station Communications (DSC) capability that functions as a base station. The system is engineered for rapid detection and identification of biological aerosol threats and can be deployed as individual modules or as a fully integrated system. The specification document outlines the technical and performance requirements that any contractor manufacturing, packaging, and delivering JBTDS Detector/Collector assemblies, Data Stations, and consumables must meet.
The Army Contracting Command-Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC-APG), acting on behalf of the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense (JPEO-CBRND), issued this specification as part of a Request for Information (RFI) effort to explore contractor options. The RFI is intended for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a commitment to issue a Request for Proposal or contract for any supplies or services. Responding to this RFI is voluntary, responses will not be compensated, and failure to respond does not preclude participation in any future RFP should one be issued.
