Sole Source Justification
1. Agency and Contracting Activity. U.S. Secret Service (USSS), Procurement Division, proposes to enter open market competed contract for Brand Name Tek-Air items using Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
2. Nature and/or description of the action being approved.
The Special Services Division (SSD) is seeking a new firm-fixed price award to upgrade the control devices and system peripherals of an existing Tek-Air laboratory airflow control system designed to control and monitor air flow and pressures of SSD's mission-critical security screening and analytical laboratory spaces. The Tek-Air control and monitoring system was selected by the design engineer as the best available option for control and monitoring of these spaces and was subsequently installed during construction of the building. Tek-Air is in the process of phasing out its legacy equipment and in time will no longer provide maintenance support to the installed control devices and system components.
SSD requires replacement of the currently installed legacy Tek-Air control devices and system peripherals with the newest, most recent Tek-Air components to ensure the vendor continues to maintain and support the system and SSD can continue to meet its security screening mission if/when system malfunctions occur.
3. Description of Supplies/Services.
The purpose of this contract award will be to acquire Tek-Air branded laboratory control devices and system peripherals, which consist of electronic and pneumatic parts used to control the air flows and pressures. The estimated value of this award is which includes Equipment Upgrade, System Air Balancing, Stock Materials and Emergency and Preventative Maintenance.
