GAOA STONY SPUR TRAIL

REHABILITATION AND TOMAHAWK TRAIL CULVERT REPLACEMENT

STATEMENT OF WORK

This project consists of 2 parts – Part 1 is the Rehabilitation of Stony Spur Trail and Part 2 is the Culvert Replacement on the Tomahawk Trail

The Stony Spur Trail (FS Trail 51058), is used as a recreation trail for hiking, ATV, and snowmobile use. This project will maintain the Stony Spur Trail to address defective areas and extend the useful life for these purposes.

In addition, a barrier will be constructed on an adjacent trail to prevent conventional vehicle traffic on a trail section.

Project Location:

The Stony Spur Trail runs between the Town of Babbitt, MN (assumed MP 0.0) eastward to MN Hwy 1 (MP 17.7). The trail roughly parallels the New Tomahawk Road, which is also known as CSAH 70, Scott Road and/or Forest Road 424.

From Ely, MN: The Stony Spur Trail crosses MN Hwy 1 approximately 19 miles South of the intersection of 169 and MN-1 at the east side of Ely.

From Babbitt, MN: The Stony Spur Trail intersects CSAH 70/Scott Road/Forest Road 424 approximately 10 miles East of the intersection of Babbitt Road and CSAH 70/Scott Road/Forest Road 424 on the north side of Babbitt.

The following table gives the approximate trail milepost (MP) and lat/long coordinates of key locations along the Stony Spur Trail:
