About this file

This document is a choral music anthology titled "Songs for Sight-Singing, Volume 2" published by Southern Music Company for junior high school SATB (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) choirs. Compiled by Mary Henry and Marilyn Jones, with Dr. Ruth Whitlock as consulting editor from Texas Christian University, the collection contains 16 choral pieces specifically designed for sight-singing instruction and commissioned by the University of Texas Interscholastic League for their annual sight singing contest. The preface explains that the materials were created by recognized composers to provide a valuable resource for young musicians, addressing common sight-singing challenges and serving as a supplement to daily choral instructional programs. The anthology includes works by composers such as Council, Crocker, DeWitt, Land, Riley, Leininger, and Williams-Wimberly, with songs ranging from "Angel Song" to "The Wind", each carefully selected to support music education objectives.
