AUG 02 2019

Purpose: DEVELOPMENT SERVICES A site and soil evaluation was completed for the property located 10427 Mullen Road SE in Olympia on February 17, 2019 by Environmental Design, LLC. The purpose of the site and soil evaluation is to determine the suitability of an On-Site Wastewater system. In order to determine if a site is suitable a minimum of three test pits were dug and evaluated for suitability. The site was evaluated to determine that the slope and size were suitable and to determine if the proposed on-site wastewater would be able to meet county and Washington State WAC 246-272A regulations.

Proposal:

The client has an existing 3 bedroom and 1 bedroom residence being served by a failing septic system.

For a)l'-bedroom system the estimated wastewater produced is 600 gallons per day based on the calculation of each bedroom prod, ucing 120 gallons per day. -11,-,u- t:r a. ·"{ ~ /~ wl1Z-'"1 160.,-CvlW1· <A.fity-'~ 'L,~b 'j..,/1/()AJ;f Pf.r,19..-...I Jv ~ l ~~ Site Description: .Jo 'K ~,.. ~ ~ r'Z./~ ~,? ~ The site has a 10-15% slope in the proposed drainfield. The parcel is about 0.4 acres in size and is J?/),'1 located in Section 10 of Township 18 North of Range 01 West.

Hydrology:

The site appears to be well drained and there did not appear to be any areas of ponding in the proposed on-site wastewater locations.

Water Source:

The water source is an existing shared well connection. The well is located 100 feet away from the proposed On-Site Wastewater system to meet the requirements of WAC 246-272A.

Soil Description:

According to the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) the property soil is mapped as a Indianola Laomy Sand Series according to the U.S.D.A Natural Resources Conservation Service Soil Survey of Thurston County, Washington (1980). The test pits were not consistent with the mapped series.

Job Number: 2018-341 Client Name: Pierce

The NRCS describes the Indianola Loamy Sandy series as very deep and somewhat excessively drained soil located on terraces. In a representative profile, the surface layer is dark reddish brown loamy sand about 6 inches thick. The upper portion of the subsoil extends to a depth of 7 inches and is dark reddish brown loamy sand. The lower 12 inches of the subsoil is dark brown loamy sand. The upper portion of the substratum is dark yellowish brown sand and extends to a depth of 10 inches. The lower portion extends to a depth of 60 inches or more and is olive brown sand.

Test Pit Description:

In order to complete a site and soil evaluation according to WAC 246-272A a minimum of three test pits need to be evaluated. For this site a total of 1 test pits were evaluated and labeled in the field. The test pits are as described below:

Test Pit#1 0-50" Brown coarse sand 50-70" Brown extremely gravelly coarse sand

Not restrictive

Soil Loading Rate:

The type of soil appears to be a Type 3 with a soil loading rate of 0.8 according to WAC 246-272A.

System Requirements:

The site appears to be suitable for a pressure distribution bed system in the proposed drainfield location. The system requirements are concluded based on the suitability of the soil, the slope of the site and the site conditions.

Conclusion:

The site described as 10427 Mullen Road SE in Olympia appears to have a slope of about 5-10% in the proposed drainfield area. The site has a suitable soil depth of 70+" in the proposed drainfield location and is suitable for a pressure distribution bed system to serve the existing residences.
