About this file

This document outlines requirements for asphalt pavement patching services and a related federal contract opportunity. The asphalt pavement patching work involves preparing areas marked by the government for patching, furnishing and placing necessary materials in layers not exceeding four inches, and compacting each layer. The contractor must remove existing materials to a minimum depth of four inches, backfill with excavated material or crushed aggregate in six-inch layers, and compact until visual displacement ceases. The hot mix asphalt is to be placed flush with or up to a quarter inch above the adjacent pavement surface. Measurement and payment will be by the ton for asphalt mixture and square yard for patching. The federal contract opportunity is a solicitation for road repair services along 42.35 miles of Minarets Road in the Sierra National Forest. This is a total small business set-aside with a firm-fixed-price contract and virtual bid opening by request. The site visit is optional due to potential snow accumulation above 8,000 feet elevation.
