1. INTRODUCTION
The AH-64E Longbow/Apache Helicopter Synthetic Multiplex, Avionics, Visionics, Weapons and Electrical Systems Trainer (L7) is identified as a training platform for the development of maintenance skills for AH-64E maintainers. The L7 Trainer is used to train system familiarization, component identification, servicing tasks and inspections, Maintenance Operational Checks (MOC), Fault Isolation Procedures (FIP), and Remove and Install (R&I) tasks in support of the U.S. Army AH-64E Apache Aviation Unit Maintenance (AVUM) and Aviation Intermediate Maintenance (AVIM).
The Performance Specification represents the baseline hardware and software fidelity requirements for the total quality design, development and validation of the L7. This training device is the result of a System Approach to Training (SAT) development process in accordance with U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Regulation 350-70. The training device is a multitasking, technical-skill-knowledge based development platform, which makes possible the training of critical individual tasks with reliable and verifiable results.
2. PURPOSE
The purpose of this Performance Specification is to identify hardware and software requirements in order to perform specific training tasks on the L7. This document establishes the AH-64E Apache Training Device System (TDS) critical maintenance training task requirements.
This document presents performance and design requirements for the AH-64E Longbow/Apache L7 as part of the U.S. Apache Training Device Suite. These specifications allow for tailoring of specification format, structure and content as required to satisfy TRADOC training requirements. The L7 is used to train system familiarization, inspection, servicing, rigging, R&I, MOC and FIP tasks in support of US AH-64E Field Levels of Maintenance (AVUM and AVIM) for the 15R10-30, 15Y10-30 and 4D-SQIE (common core) tasks.
3. SCOPE
This Performance Specification is a comprehensive study that defines and determines the minimum tasks and subtasks requirements of the L7 training device. The subtasks identified reflect those found in the Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM).
The scope of the Performance Specification document study includes the results of the research, analysis and development of data residing in the resource documents listed in Section 5.
4. REQUREMENTS DEVELOPMENT
Requirements in this specification were developed from the critical training tasks list for Apache Version (v)4 and the performance specifications of the previous versions of the Multiplex, Avionics, Visionics, Weapons, Electrical Systems Trainer and Airframe, Engine & Drive Train Systems Trainer – L6 (AEDST-L6). Further development and refinement of the performance requirements will be completed by the Integrated Product Development Team (IPDT) between the Government and the Contractor. The requirements in this document, especially in the Critical Individual Task List (CITL) (Appendix A and B), will be used to create the Performance Specification. The Training Task Inventory List (TTIL), Fidelity Matrix (FM) and FLA will be created by the IPDT and will be part of the Performance Specification.
The L7 TTIL is the basis for the Trainer System’s functional and operational design requirements definition. The TTIL is a list of Military Occupation Specialties (MOS) specific tasks required to meet the critical training requirements derived from an approved CITL (essential to wartime mission and duty accomplishment).
The L7 FM is developed using the TTIL. The FM defines the product design, development and functional fidelity requirements. Fidelity definitions are considered to be the degree of replication at which training device components are designed. Fidelity requirements are identified and defined as Functional and Physical.
The L7 FLA is developed using the TTIL, the approved 15R10-30 and 15Y10-30 critical task lists. The Fault List Audit will define the faults which are required to be simulated by the Training Device to support training of the FIPs.
4.1 TOTAL AIRCRAFT ENVIRONMENT / TRAINING TASK ENVIRONMENT (TAE/TTE)
The L7 Aircraft systems are a combination of modeled, simulated and trainer unique components meeting selected requirements for Total Aircraft Environment (TAE)/Training Task Environment (TTE).
4.1.1 Training Analysis
Training device system design/development will adhere to training analysis requirements in accordance with TRADOC Regulation 350-70 and TAE/TTE based on training device and air vehicle specifications.
4.1.2 Training Suite Design Concept
This system is supporting an integrated training suite concept that requires the porting of software and the distribution of applicable hardware designs across proposed maintenance trainers to reduce development.
