About this file

This document is a technical specification section (Section 02 41 00) for Selective Demolition from the Cruise Terminal 5 Marine Improvements project issued by the Canaveral Port Authority in Port Canaveral, Florida. The section provides comprehensive technical requirements for demolition operations, including the removal of existing steel monopile mooring dolphins, underwater grouted scour protection mats, metal catwalks/walkways, supporting concrete piles and pile caps, concrete pier deck sections, and fender and bollard components. The specification outlines detailed requirements for demolition planning, utility coordination, environmental protection, debris removal, and disposal protocols.

The technical specification establishes stringent quality assurance standards, requiring demolition contractors to have a minimum of five years' experience with similar project complexity. Specific requirements include developing a comprehensive demolition plan, obtaining utility locates, providing commercially certified dive inspections, and maintaining compliance with environmental permits. The document prohibits certain demolition techniques like water jetting and emphasizes the importance of protecting existing structures and utilities during the demolition process. Contractors are responsible for all costs associated with disposal, debris removal, and ensuring that no debris remains in the marine environment. The specification also mandates detailed documentation, including photographs, video recordings, and project experience submissions to demonstrate capability and compliance with the project's technical requirements.
