Invitation to Bid #2023-18
Wild Trout Timber Sale
RESPONSE TO CLARIFYING QUESTIONS #2
May 1, 2023
Note that these are questions submitted by interested firms to the above referenced solicitation. The below answers are for clarification purposes only and in no way alter or amend the ITB as published.
1. How will you determine if that minimum qualification is met at bid submission time? Are you stating that we must list the logging contract we will use on the timber sale at bid submission time? Most timber sales we look at and bid on do not have a logger selected at bid time. We perform our own appraisal work for preparing a bid to submit. We hire the logging contractor after we are the successful bidder/purchaser. We are a sawmill company and hire contractors to do the logging and hauling work for us in this way on the vast majority of timber sales we purchase. Is it enough to qualify as an acceptable bidder to just know we must use an Oregon Professional Logger certified contractor?
Answer: You do not need to have your logger selected at the time of bid, they can be chosen later, so long as they are an Oregon Certified Professional Logger. We will ask for proof before logging can begin.
2. From the gate on Wildcat all the way to the sale which is right at 2.0 miles needs roadside brushed. There is no mention of it in the contract and it is impossible to move in equipment or log haul until it is done,,, Is Clackamas County going to do this work ?
Answer: Selected Bidder will be responsible for all maintenance including brushing of the road. Must contact Weyerhaeuser to secure permission for work on their property.
