Invitation to Bid #2023-18

Wild Trout Timber Sale

RESPONSE TO CLARIFYING QUESTIONS #1

April 27, 2023

Note that these are questions submitted by interested firms to the above referenced solicitation. The below answers are for clarification purposes only and in no way alter or amend the ITB as published.

1. Under “required submittals” do we need to have enclosed with our bid a letter describing the minor project work, yarding and logging plan, etc.,,, or are you going to require that at the time of the high bidder?

Answer: Plan not needed at the time of bid but will be required before logging can start.

2. Section IV. Logging Eligibility,,, is there a certification form to fill out for not exporting – we do not export but we do not have a “certificate”…. This needs to be enclosed with the bid also?

Answer: No certification form needed at this time. Just remember not to sell or trade logs to be sold overseas.

3. Is pulp removal required?

Answer: Yes, pulp needs to be removed so the contractor will maximize the saw logs out of every tree.

4. Can the purchaser “shovel log” and “log haul” in winter months during dry periods?

Answer: Yes, the purchaser can shovel log in the winter. They need to have a good plan and will need to maintain all the roads in the condition they were in before the logging started.

5. On the slash piles created no covering with plastic?

Answer: No covering needed by the contractor. Piles need to be clean, fairly tight and high.

6. Freres Lumber Co. Inc is OPL Certified as well as our loggers,,, if we are the high bidder we do not know which logger would log the sale until later, so we will include our Certification with the bid if that is ok.

Answer: It will be okay to choose your logger later if they are certified professional. We will ask for proof before logging can begin.
