Statement of Work (SOW)
Project: Repair of Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Scope of Work:
The service provider will perform service consisting of:
1) Perform on-site diagnostic evaluation of the IRMS unit to confirm initial diagnosis of:
a. Servicing of mass flow controller that is housed within the analytical instrument, and
b. Servicing of diffusion pump.
2) To conduct required servicing on the mass flow controller and the turbo pump to return the instrument within manufacture’s specifications.
The goal of this ARS project is to repair and return the IRMS instrument to its operational condition. The service provider needs to be fully competent in the use of the IonOS (software to control and access the IRMS) as well as the Isoprime precisION hardware to successfully accomplish these tasks.
2.0 Background:
The USDA-ARS purchased a Elementar IRMS analytical instrument in 2019 and the unit was installed in the USDA-ARS laboratory (St. Paul, MN) in February 2020. There have been numerous difficulties in returning the unit to operation after the COVID laboratory shutdown. With the assistance from the manufacture, there have been at least 2 service items that require attention in to repair the instrumentation. The first is a repair of the mass flow controller (MFC) that is housed within the unit. The second is servicing of the turbopump. The goal of this project is to return the IRMS to operational status.
For this reason, we are requesting service be performed on this instrument to return the unit to operational status. We did attempt to acquire quotes for this service from other service providers (GMI, Full Spectrum, and Pace Analytical Services).
However, the ones that we contacted declined submitting a quote, since they do not service this instrument. Therefore, we are requesting this service directly from the manufacturer.
