About this file
This document is an Invitation to Bid for the Ionia Transportation Facility Window Replacement project, issued by the City of Ionia and designed by Fishbeck engineering firm. The project involves replacing 15 window openings across three sides of the office wing in the Transportation Building, originally constructed in 1988. These are Andersen vinyl clad wood windows, with seven stationary and eight operable windows, all of which have screens. The bid is scheduled to be received on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. local time, with a project completion deadline of October 15, 2025. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting is set for Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 8 AM at the project location. The base bid includes replacing three pairs of operable casement windows and three pairs of fixed casement windows, covering four masonry openings on the west elevation and two in the Dispatch Room on the east elevation.
The bidding requirements include submitting a stipulated Lump Sum price and two Unit Prices for window replacements, with a 5% bid security required. The project specifications call for Andersen 400 Series Casement windows in Dark Bronze exterior with white interior finish, and full screens on operable windows. Alternate manufacturers like Pella or Marvin are acceptable. The window installation involves detailed steps including investigating existing wall construction, removing current windows, installing new head flashing, injecting closed-cell spray foam for weather barriers, and providing perimeter sealant. The contractor will be responsible for disposing of removed windows and debris off-site. Bidders are expected to consider all details required to provide complete construction services meeting industry standards, with the intent of allowing flexibility in scheduling to optimize workforce utilization and project pricing.

Description of Conditions
The Transportation Building was constructed in 1988 and an addition was subsequently added to the south side.
The office wing is part of the original building and is brick veneer on wood stud construction.
The Andersen vinyl clad wood windows in the office wing are original to the building and are in need of replacement. There are 15 window openings on three sides of the office wing. Each opening contains a pair of casement windows. Seven of the openings have stationary windows, the other eight pairs are operating. The operable units have screens.
The construction drawings show the windows installed with a nailing flange behind the brick veneer. No detail is available indicating whether there is any head flashing between the window and a metal faced plywood panel above. None is visible in the field. Drywall returns cover the interior window recess and butt into the painted window frame.
