About this file
This is an Invitation to Bid issued by the Town of Fairfield, Vermont for the 2026 Paving Project. The project encompasses paving work on North Road and the intersection of Chester A. Arthur Road. Bidders are required to submit sealed bids that will be publicly opened and reviewed on May 11, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. during the Town of Fairfield's Selectboard Meeting. The contract will be awarded for either Project Option 1 or Project Option 2, and bidders must provide estimates for both projects since only one will be selected. Project Option 1 includes machine paving approximately 4,940 feet of North Road (24 feet wide) with a 3/4" leveling course and 1.5" wearing course (all Type 4 asphalt), plus paving at the Chester A. Arthur Road intersection (approximately 230 feet). Project Option 2, contingent upon grant fund receipt, includes machine paving approximately 10,200 feet of North Road (24 feet wide) with the same specifications plus similar Chester A. Arthur Road intersection work (approximately 235 feet). Final project completion is required by September 30, 2024.
Bidders must provide the total tons of Type IV asphalt, total tons of Type III asphalt, estimated total quantity, unit price for each road segment, and the total bid price for each project option. The Selectboard will award the final contract upon notification of grant status from VTRANS. Project Option 2 is contingent on the receipt of grant funding. Additional bid requirements and detailed specifications are available in the full Invitation to Bid document and on the Town of Fairfield's website at www.fairfieldvermont.us.
