About this file

This is an Insurance Checklist document for the City of West Sacramento establishing certificate of insurance requirements for all standard city contracts. The City of West Sacramento requires vendors and contractors to obtain and maintain comprehensive insurance coverage as a condition of contract performance. All required policies, except Workers' Compensation and Professional Liability, must name the City as an additional insured. Contractors must provide a Certificate of Insurance listing the City of West Sacramento (1110 West Capitol Avenue, West Sacramento, CA 95691) as the Certificate Holder and must include a copy of the Additional Insured Endorsement verifying policy endorsements; certificates lacking this documentation will be considered incomplete. All certificates must provide for thirty days' written notice to the Certificate Holder prior to cancellation or material change of coverage.

The minimum insurance requirements for City contracts include Commercial General Liability of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, Commercial Automobile Liability of $1,000,000 per accident, Workers' Compensation and Employers' Liability per statutory requirements, and Professional Liability (Errors & Omissions) of $1,000,000 per claim if applicable. General Liability and Automobile Liability coverage must include Additional Insured Endorsements equivalent to CG 2010 0714, Primary and Noncontributory Endorsements, and Separation of Insureds endorsements. Workers' Compensation policies must include a Waiver of Subrogation Endorsement in favor of the City, its officers, agents, and employees, or a Workers' Compensation waiver if the contractor is self-employed with no employees. These insurance requirements apply to the City Surveyor Consultant Services contract opportunity, which seeks to supplement city staff with professionals authorized under California Business and Professions Code to serve as City Surveyor.
