About this file
The document is a comprehensive 2,000,000 Gallon Fluted Column Tank Inspection Report prepared by TankRehab, LLC for Sarasota County Utilities, located at 1850 Wendall Kent Rd in Sarasota, Florida. The inspection was conducted on June 20, 2023, by Tom Donovan and covers a water storage tower manufactured by Pitt-Des Moines, Inc. in 1997, with a contract number 56174. The report provides a detailed assessment of the tank's exterior and interior coating conditions, safety features, sanitation, and structural integrity, highlighting various areas requiring maintenance and potential corrective actions.
The inspection reveals that the tank is currently in fair condition, with several recommendations for improvement. Key findings include isolated coating failures on the exterior roof and interior surfaces, corrosion around vent openings, and the need for safety upgrades such as replacing ladders, installing safety climbing devices, and addressing roof vents and access hatches. The estimated budgetary considerations for these improvements total approximately $339,000, covering spot repairs, ladder replacements, safety climb installations, and roof vent replacements. The report suggests that the tank should be inspected every year for corrosion control maintenance and that the sludge and sediment build-up should be removed from the tank every two years.
