BACKGROUND

Printing Services (PS) provides high volume mainframe, network, and digital print services to all state agencies. PS also offers a wide variety of design, printing and bindery services. Products include brochures, newsletters, letterhead, business cards, posters, forms, envelopes, carbonless forms, manuals, books and more. Any print requests beyond the business scope are outsourced to pre-qualified vendors.

Envelope printing is a service offered by Print and Graphic Services (PGS) to its customers. It produces over 5 million envelopes for state agencies annually. Currently, envelopes are printed using an offset press, which includes a metal printing plate and ink. Envelopes can be printed in one or two colors.

Printing Services is seeking to replace the current envelope press used by Print and Graphic Services (PGS) and all its corresponding components. The printer and plate making hardware and software are fully depreciated and at the end of their life cycle. Printing Services is looking at a replacement solution that will improve production times, reduce staff workloads and provide customers with service and feature enhancements.

SCOPE

PMM is looking to purchase a digital four-color inkjet envelope printer. The scope of the project includes the purchase, installation, training and maintenance of all hardware and software required to operate the machine at vendor advertised specifications. This will be a five (5) year contract with two (2) 1-year options.
