About this file

This is a promotional handout for ImmPact, Maine's Innovative Immunization Information System, operated by the Maine CDC Immunization Program. ImmPact is a web-based clinical platform designed to help healthcare providers manage vaccine ordering, inventory tracking, immunization records, and reporting. The system serves all providers receiving vaccines through the Maine CDC Immunization Program and offers two participation levels: "per dose" providers with full functionality access and "aggregate" providers with limited capabilities. Core features include real-time ACIP scheduler and forecaster recommendations, immunization coverage reports, reminder-recall systems for patients due or overdue for vaccinations, and automated vaccine ordering and inventory management. The platform utilizes HL7-compliant HTTPS data exchange technology and has connected with over 40 provider offices to facilitate the exchange of thousands of client immunization records across the state. Getting started requires providers to complete and submit provider and user agreements, receive login credentials, and begin utilizing the system's best practice tools, with optional training available.

The document emphasizes that participation in ImmPact is required for all providers receiving vaccines through the Maine CDC program and strongly recommends upgrading to "per dose" provider status to access full functionality and associated benefits. The Maine Immunization Program has demonstrated significant success in improving immunization rates; one large pediatric practice in the Auburn-Lewiston area increased the rate of children up to date on immunizations by age two from 18% to 64% within one year of joining as part of a Practice Improvement Pilot project. Support services are available through the Help Desk at 1-800-906-8754, with additional resources and notifications accessible through the ImmPact website at Immunizeme.org. The system has been operational for over 10 years and continues to evolve its data exchange capabilities to eliminate dual data entry and streamline business processes for healthcare practices statewide.

ImmPact helps practices:

Increase efficiency and decrease costs.

An effective business tool, ImmPact provides a single, integrated source for both vaccine and client management.

Automated vaccine ordering, inventory tracking, and reporting help practices streamline vaccine management activities. Easily accessible client immunization records reduce the administrative burden of accepting new clients, transferring clients, and providing copies of records to clients.

Provide better care.

ImmPact automatically assesses each client’s history in real time and recommends necessary immunizations according to the ACIP schedule, reducing under- and over-immunization.

ImmPact’s Immunization Coverage Reports and Reminder-

Recall helps practices identify clients who have missed and/ or are due for vaccinations and remind them to schedule an office visit and keep themselves up to date.

Achieve immunization goals.

With ImmPact’s best practice tools, practices can run on-demand immunization coverage reports, helping them improve immunization rates and track progress towards their goals. By participating in ImmPact, practices also provide valuable data to help the state raise and sustain immunization rates.

Stay up to date and connected.

ImmPact updates practices with essential news and vaccine recommendations from the Maine Immunization Program.

ImmPact users have access to announcements, release notes, and resources within their special notifications area.

In the event of a public health emergency or outbreak, ImmPact keeps practices informed and helps them manage intensified vaccination efforts.

Improve client satisfaction.

With ImmPact, parents and guardians have easy access to their child’s permanent immunization record through their child’s provider and, therefore, have fewer hassles when switching providers or entering school or daycare.

Because ImmPact helps keep children on schedule for their vaccinations, children are better protected from dangerous vaccine preventable diseases.

ImmPact is a clinical system for ordering, administering, and tracking vaccinations. ImmPact’s web-based platform stores immunization records for clients statewide, providing accurate, up-to-date information needed to support clinical decisions and raise immunization rates.

For over 10 years, providers have used ImmPact to provide their clients with the highest quality of care and help improve the health of Maine.

I use ImmPact daily to check what shots are needed for individual patients. It’s especially useful for those special cases where the child is out of sync with the standard schedule. I’ve found ImmPact to be a lot smarter than I am, even though I’ve been immunizing children for 30+ years!

~ Dr. Sydney Sewall

ImmPact is required for all providers receiving vaccines through the Maine CDC Immunization Program.

Providers can participate in ImmPact as “per dose” providers or “aggregrate” providers. “Per dose” providers can access ImmPact’s full functionality—capitalizing on all of ImmPact’s best practice tools and the associated benefits for their practice and their clients. The Maine

Immunization Program strongly recommends joining, or upgrading, as a “per dose” provider. Contact the

Help Desk at 1-800-906-8754 for more information.

ImmPact Data Exchange ImmPact utilizes the latest healthcare information technology to continuously improve practices’ clinical and business workflow.

Over the last five years, ImmPact has steadily increased its data exchange capability and has connected with over 40 provider offices to exchange thousands of client immunization records. ImmPact is working to apply this same data exchange technology to vaccine inventory management, creating a pathway to eliminate dual data entry and business processes for practices across the state.

Participation in ImmPact’s data exchange works towards Meaningful Use goals, meeting the requirement for sending client data to the state. Currently, ImmPact uses the industry standard format for data exchange

(HL7-compliant HTTPS files). To assess your practice’s compatibility and learn more about ImmPact’s data exchange, contact our Help Desk at 1-800-906-8754.

ACIP Scheduler & Forecaster

ImmPact gives real time immunization recommendations for each client based on his or her history. In addition, ImmPact can forecast a client’s immunization needs, whether immediately prior to his or her visit or as part of long-term planning.

Immunization Coverage Reports

This tool generates a call-back list of clients who are due or past due for vaccinations, as well as easy-to-read graphs of a practice’s immunization rates. Practices can use this list to call clients and remind them to schedule an office visit.

Reminder-Recall

This system creates letters, postcards, and notices that can be sent to clients who are due or past due for immunizations, reminding them to schedule an office visit.

This system can also help notify clients affected by vaccine recalls and other public health emergencies.

All tools are part of ImmPact and require no additional download. If your practice is enrolled in ImmPact and not yet taking advantage of these tools, contact our Help Desk at 1-800-906-8754 for more information.

ImmPact Best Practice Tools With the ACIP schedule as its foundation, ImmPact offers multiple best practice tools to help keep clients on track for their vaccinations. By recording per dose client data in ImmPact, a fully integrated practice can take advantage of the following tools to improve immunization rates:

ImmPact can help your practice raise immunization rates, meeting state and national goals. Many providers see a dramatic rate increase using the full functionality of ImmPact.

In 2009, a large pediatric practice in the

Auburn Lewiston area joined ImmPact as part of a Practice Improvement Pilot project. In their practice, the rate of children up to date on their immunizations by age two increased from

18% to 64% in the course of a year.

Complete and submit your provider and user agreements. ImmPact staff will set up your account.
