Request for Information or Solicitation for Planning Purposes (Oct 1997)

(a) The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this solicitation or to otherwise pay for the information solicited except as an allowable cost under other contracts as provided in subsection 31.205-18, Bid and proposal costs, of the Federal Acquisition Regulation.

(b) Although "proposal" and "offeror" are used in this Request for Information, your response will be treated as information only. It shall not be used as a proposal.

(c) This solicitation is issued for the purpose of determining if a PO for PPE can be set aside for Native

American vendors.

BACKGROUND

The Indian Health Service (IHS) National Supply Service Center (NSSC) located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, services IHS and Tribal Health Care facilities nationwide. The NSSC Coordinates and manages the purchase and distribution of pharmaceuticals, medical, and other health care related supply items.

Accordingly, NSSC serves as the IHS Supply management operation and distributor of emergency and pandemic supplies. Currently the NSSC requirements are to obtain the highest quality PPE and Supplies at the best possible price to be used uniformly, as medically appropriate.

RESPONSE INFORMATION

IHS is seeking offerors to provide information on pricing/capability for obtaining Isolation Gowns, Tyvek

Suits/Coveralls, Bouffant Caps, Shoe Covers, Pulse Oximeters, and No-Touch Infrared Thermometers. The requirements of the PPE items are listed in the attached spreadsheet. The potential North American Industry

Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 423450 – Medical, Dental and Hospital and

Supplies Merchant Wholesalers.

INSTRUCTIONS TO INDUSTRY

All capable parties are encouraged to respond to this RFI.

The Government requests offeror(s) submit a written response to this RFI which includes:

a) Offeror point of contact and company information on excel spreadsheet

b) Estimated pricing for the items described in the excel spreadsheet

c) Offeror’s System for Award Management (SAM) registration status

d) Statement of Capability

e) Completed IEE Representation Form

After a review of the responses received, a solicitation may be published. Furthermore, responses to this notice will not be considered adequate responses to any such solicitation.

No proprietary, classified, confidential, or sensitive information should be included in your response. The

Government reserves the right to use any non-proprietary technical information in any resultant solicitation(s).
