IHS Clinical Support Center Joint Accreditation Annual Fee

STATEMENT OF WORK

1.0 Statement of Work (SOW):

1.1 Introduction and Background

The purpose of this requirement is to provide payment of the IHS Clinical Support Centers (CSC) Joint Accreditation annual and reaccreditation fees for calendar year 2025 and 4 optional years. This requirement is to maintain accredited provider status with the Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education™.

Joint Accreditation allows the CSC to maintain the ability to award accredited continuing education credits for healthcare professionals throughout the Indian Health Service, Tribal, and Urban (I/T/U) programs. The Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education™ is the first and only accrediting body in the world to offer the opportunity to be simultaneously accredited to provide CE activities for multiple healthcare professions through a single, unified application process, fee structure, and set of accreditation standards. CSC has maintained its jointly accredited provider status since 2018. Under Joint Accreditation, the CSC currently holds seven accreditations for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, psychologists, social workers and dietitians.

Joint Accreditation promotes IPCE activities specifically designed to improve interprofessional collaborative practice in health care delivery to achieve a common goal of improving patient care. Joint Accreditation assures the public that healthcare teams receive education designed to be independent, free from commercial bias, based on valid content, and effective in improving the quality and safety of care delivered by the team.

IHS clinical professionals must be well-versed in the latest medical advances in order to make sound, evidence-based decisions aligned with public health interests. Our Continuing Education program provides a way to tailor IHS training to address the specific knowledge and skills and culturally-specific content needed by internal staff while at the same time allowing them to earn the credit hours necessary to maintain their licensure. The CSC provides and supports educational activities in a variety of formats including: lectures, workshops, webinars, seminars, rounds and regularly scheduled series for IHS, Tribal and Urban (I/T/U) healthcare teams.

The continuing education activities of the CSC directly support the IHS Strategic Goals and Objectives, specifically:

• IHS Strategic Goal 1: To ensure that comprehensive, culturally appropriate personal and public health services are available and accessible to American Indian and Alaska Native people.

o Objective 1.1: Recruit, develop, and retain a dedicated, competent, and caring workforce.

o Objective 1.3: Increase access to quality health care services.

• IHS Strategic Goal 2: To promote excellence and quality through innovation of the Indian health system into an optimally performing organization.

o Objective 2.1: Create quality improvement capability at all levels of the organization. [Quality Data, Improvement and Standards of Care] o Objective 2.2: Provide care to better meet the health care needs of American Indian and Alaska Native communities. {Culturally Appropriate Care and Sharing Best Practices}

• IHS Strategic Goal 3: To strengthen IHS program management and operations.

o Objective 3.2: Secure and effectively manage the assets and resources.

o Objective 3.3: Modernize information technology and information systems to support data driven decisions.

CSC's major role is to assist IHS, Tribal, and Urban health programs in planning continuing education activities. By virtue of its intimate involvement in the development, implementation, and evaluation of activities for and by the healthcare team, the CSC is able to award continuing education credits.
