Perimeter Fence Project FCI Ray Brook

1. When removing existing fences, can we cut posts and jackhammer footers below grade, or must we pull footers completely and backfill holes ?

ANSWER: In most cases the existing poles can be cut and footers set below ground level. Contractor may need to pull a few footers to accommodate new installation.

2. Plans show only 1) 10foot "vehicle gate" (unspecified type) and 1) 6foot pedestrian gate

But... Written specs refer to 1) 14ft X 14ft 9" gate (unspecified type) and multiple 14ft X 12ft double-swing gates (no number or specific locations given) Specs also refer to pedestrian gates at "Sallyport and Guard Tower 7" , yet this work is not shown on any plan page.

ANSWER: The plans are correct. Section 02820 Parts “d.” and “e.” do not apply and should have been deleted from the Specs.

3. Gate specs require "mounting for chain drive vehicular gate operators". What gates does this apply to ? Swing gates or slide gates ? What type of "mounting" for what type operator ? More info is needed. Reference is made to "Detention Hardware" section, but no such section is included.

ANSWER: The plans are correct. Section 02820 Parts “d.” and “e.” do not apply and should have been deleted from the Specs.

3a. (related to above) Gate specs require that pedestrian gate is equipped with mounting for "electric gate lock". We need more info about what type mounting for what type of lock ?

ANSWER: Section 02820 Parts “d.” and “e.” do not apply and should have been deleted from the Specs. No electric gate locks.

4. What is a "slowdown fence" ? Is there a detail or spec available ?

ANSWER: The slow down fences we refer to are existing fences located inside the secure perimeter. They will need to be extended to intersect the newly relocated perimeter fence. Refer to the Symbols Key and also Note 4 on the drawings. The slow down fences are twelve (12) feet high with one (1) row of razor ribbon secured to the top.
