MCC SAN DIEGO – REPLACE AIR HANDLERS AND COILS
PROJECT 6NU & 6RW QUESTIONS
SOLICITATION IFBP06101100002 – (as of 3/10/2011)
BELOW ARE ALL QUESTIONS POSED FOR THE ABOVE REFERENCED SOLICITATION.

1. During the job walk William O’Brien mentioned there were specifications for the existing coils and air handler in the basement. Could you please provide the specifications for the following?:
CLARIFICATION:
a. Lower Basement Mechanical Air Handler to be replaced:

TON--25
CFM--13,000-------One Coil feeds this Unit
b. Coils to be replaced in the parking garage D-unit servicing (floors 1 thru 3) and the coils servicing (floors 4 thru 12):
(1) Please verify quantities – (1) set of coils in parking garage D-unit that services floors 1 thru 3 and (9) sets coils servicing floors 4 thru 12 ( (1) set of coils per floor) D-Unit , is the fourth floor and the unit provides air to the fourth floor

The garage Air Handling Unit feeds the First three floors of MCC SAN DIEGO .
This unit has (2 COILS) SPECS ARE AS FOLLOWS

2. Louvers to be replaced are actually dampers and there are 3 per floor 4 thru 12 for a total for 27? The addition 3 from the SOW are for the Parking garage D-unit? Are the dampers to be replaced pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and manual? During the site visit, it was mentioned to be manual. Are there any specs for the dampers?
CLARIFICATION:
There are a TOTAL OF 31 MECHANICAL DAMPERS TO BE REPLACE THROUGH OUT THE FACILITY 3 PER FLOOR 4 -12 /// and 4 in the garage unit, spec s of these dampers were taken on site during the walk through. All dampers will be MANUAL set to open Position.
3. After replacement of dampers, each unit will or will not need to be balanced? If so what aspect ratios for air mixture will be required?
CLARIFICATION:
NO, after installation the dampers should be positioned to the open position.
4. The Lower Basement Mechanical Air Handler to be replaced does or doesn’t have controls? Site visit mentioned that there are no controls. There are control valves on the existing unit, maybe for a thermostat or a control system? Are we to reuse the existing controls or control valves or new? If new an additional site visit may need to be scheduled or specs provided. To verify the SOW, a new thermostat only?
CLARIFICATION: There are no controls on this existing equipment and there will not be any controls during the install.

1. Please provide the model #'s and manufacturers’ of the Air Handlers and coils.
The make of The Air Handlers are McQuay. The only unit I have a model serial for is the Lower Basement and it is as follows: Serial # 958049-020 / Model # LSL-222-CH.
