REHAB STORM SEWERS

USP MARION, ILLINOIS

CLARIFICATIONS

QUESTION: Is the north/south storm line between building 7 and 8 a similar 12" line as shown between buildings 5 and 6?

RESPONSE: Base bid on the drawings as is, we have to assume it is the same.

QUESTION: Is the north/south storm line between building 9 and 10 a similar 12" line as shown between buildings 5 and 6?

RESPONSE: Base bid on the drawings as is, we have to assume it is the same.

QUESTION: Where does the 18" storm line on the very southeast corner (outside the secured fence) terminate? Is it in an accessible manhole?

RESPONSE: This storm line from the manhole on the SE corner, outside of the fence flows West and collects with the East flowing storm drain on the South edge of the lower staff parking lot where it turns South, flows under the road and East of tower #8 adjacent to the Administration Building surfacing at ground level flowing toward the reservoir.

QUESTION: Since we were unable to go inside any of the existing buildings to view the lateral 4", 5" or 6" lines, what material are they constructed of? Also, how are they accessible inside the buildings? Do they terminate at a drain? We need to know so we can determine how the new CIPP will be completed and cut.

RESPONSE: 4" cast iron pipe leaves each housing unit (w/ exception of SHU & G unit (Bldgs 1 & 2) where SHU has two 5" CI and G has one 5" and one 4")...see drawing pg 1.

QUESTION: On long days (over the 8 hour time period) when we will be completing large diameter CIPP runs, we are required to pay the overtime for our escorts. First, what rate do we need to include. Second, how many escorts are required for the 6 or seven man crew that will be on site completing the work?

RESPONSE: Figure $55/hr/staff....depending on location, distance & vehicles staff could number between 1-3. Please note: with ample notification staff schedules might be adjusted to minimize possible OT.

QUESTION: We were only able to view the manhole inlet near tower #1 that has 16 - 8" pipes extending to the (West) east. We could not find where those lines terminate. There is no other manhole to the west until you are across the access road adjacent to the water towers. The line feeding into that from the east appears to be at least 21" or larger. Are we to install the CIPP system in the existing 16 each 8" lines? If so, where do they terminate? We assume that the same thing occurs at the unit on the northeast corner of the site to the west of tower #5. Is that correct? Who is responsible for locating those termination points?

RESPONSE: Both areas have 12- 8" clay tile pipes extending approx. 50 between collection boxes. Both have access on the inside (grates are bolted & welded) the exterior collection box at the North East location has visible access and the South West location access is not visible but "should" have one below grade, or we will make one.

QUESTION: In viewing the site, there were several manholes shown on the drawing that we could not locate. One was located to the east of Building 22 where the 24" pipe meets the 21" pipe. A second was on the same line just south where the 24" line meets the 27" line. Who is responsible to locate these, or any other, manholes?

RESPONSE: Base bid on the drawings as is.

QUESTION: From the same main 27" or 24" storm lines discussed in item 7 above, we are shown two separate 12" lateral lines going to the east and those having either 4" or 5" laterals going into Buildings 1, 2 4 or the north/south corridor. How do we access these 12" areas? There is also another 12" line running east that just stops between Buildings 2 and 3. Is there a manhole in that location?

RESPONSE: Based on our inspection, the size of the pipes are correct (see page 1 attached). The areas with 12" we are unable to find access at this time.

QUESTION: We were told that all of the lines 8" or larger are constructed of concrete and they thought that all of the 6", 5" or 4" lines were clay tile. Is that correct?

RESPONSE: For additional clarification concerning units/buildings the pipes internally and leaving the units are 4" cast iron, with the exception of SHU. See attached pages.
