STANDARD FORM 30 BACK (Rev. 10-83)
Amendment 4‐ Federal Business Opportunities: IFB‐241‐2014‐3549, Water Storage Tank at Ft. Thompson, SD
1. Can the bid revised to include a line for TERO fees that are to be added to the schedule total or are we to include these fees throughout the bid items?
Answer:
No, there will not be a new line item added into the bid schedule for TERO fees. Yes, this fee should be built into your overall bid cost.
2. Specifications for the Steel Water Storage Tank (90‐2) requires the Range of Head to be min. 30’ and max 35’. Our standard geometry for a 500M Pedesphere is 37’‐6. Will this be acceptable?
Redesigning a Pedesphere to meet this requirement would require a specialized one off design that will add additional cost to this style of tank.
This specific design question would be addressed after the award. This does not limit the bidder to submit his design based on the 37.5’ standard height. The 2.5’ additional height would be deemed acceptable.
3. The Specification calls states that the Contractor will be required to hire 3rd party paint inspection company. What portions of the painting are to be inspects? Are we required to have 100% shop and field inspections, only field inspection, or spot inspections? I do not see any additional specification as to what is required.
Specification 90.08 states on a daily basis to inspect the steel preparation and painting, this would include shop preparation and field.
4. Specification 90.08 states on a daily basis to inspect the steel preparation and painting, this would include shop preparation and field.
Answer:
Yes, it is acceptable to have a subcontractor’s foreman act on behalf of the prime contractor for the foundation portion of the contract.
5. Specifications on the Pedesphere call for a 30” x 60” shipsdoor in the base cone. We would suggest a 36 x 80 steel plate mandoor without step over threshold. Would this be an acceptable alternative?
Yes
6. Confirm that rest platforms shall be at 50’ maximum spacing, specifications state 50’, but drawing 9 of 20 Note 3 states 25’‐0.
Note 3 on sheet 9 of 20 is incorrect. It should read 50’ maximum spacing.
Amendment 4‐ Federal Business Opportunities: IFB‐241‐2014‐3549, Water Storage Tank at Ft. Thompson, SD
7. Can you please confirm that the water line that is to be removed with the abandonment of the 200,000 gallon Pedesphere is not asbestos cement pipe?
The associated piping with the abandonment of the Pedesphere is cast iron and PVC.
8. Can we use our standard head range = 36’‐6” (TP‐91.07 A and TP‐91.08 C)?
This specific design question would be addressed after the award. This does not limit the bidder to submit his design based on the 36.5’ standard height. The 1.5’ additional height would be deemed acceptable.
9. Our tank floor is a flat concrete slab not less than 24” thick. Is this acceptable in lieu of a concrete dome floor (TP‐91.10)?
Answer:
This specific design question would be addressed after the award. This does not limit the bidder to submit his design based on the 24” flat concrete floor.
10. The remaining specifications and drawings indicate that a safety climb rail system is required on all ladders and not a safety cage. Can you please clarify (TP‐91.08 R)?
Any reference to a safety cage, should reference the Safety Climb system.
11. There are no dimensions for the doors shown on the drawings. What size are doors (TP‐91.14 E and F)?’
The door dimensions are identified on sheet thirteen of twenty.
12. Can we cut the fiber optic cable as needed?
No.
