QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

QUESTION 1:

Weldable primer is required on 085713 (note 9) but is not called out on 076067-is it required on all parts or only the parts with the note?

ANSWER 1:

In the absence of a drawing note, refer to Technical Specification 04913-445-241T - Section 8 - Coatings, Primer.

8. COATINGS

Primer:

All surfaces except pins, pinholes, cylinder rods, and cutting blades, shall be painted with lead-free primer. All surfaces to be primed shall be prepared in accordance with the primer manufacturer's recommendations to provide maximum primer adhesion. Unless otherwise noted, all metal surfaces shall be primer painted with Amteco, Inc., Zero Rust Primer, Grey or Black color, not less than 2 mils dry film thickness. The primer coat shall be free from runs, drips, sags, etc., and shall be evenly applied.

Any metal surface that is not completely coated with primer (i.e.-overlapping surfaces joined by non-continuous welds, sheet metal spot welded to reinforcing ribs, etc.) shall be treated with a weld-through primer product prior to welding (Ref: SEM #40793 Copperweld, or SEM #40773 Zincweld).

ALL OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS SHALL REMAIN IN FULL
