IFB 100F-26 Addendum 1 Summary
This is an addendum issued by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) modifying the bidding timeline for IFB 100F-26, a competitive invitation for bids on replacement crossovers and turnouts for the Red Line. The MBTA originally scheduled the bid opening for July 29, 2026 at 2:00 PM Eastern Time but has extended the deadline to August 5, 2026 at 2:00 PM EST. Bids will be submitted via the FAIRMARKIT platform with a virtual public bid opening at 2:30 PM on the extended date. The scope of work includes fabrication and delivery of five line items comprising various AREMA Standard crossovers and turnout assemblies with specified rail grades, manganese steel components, and hardened switch assemblies for multiple Red Line stations including Braintree, Kendall, Tenean, and Quincy Street. Contract execution is anticipated on August 7, 2026, with an estimated initial shipment due September 7, 2026 and full delivery completion required by April 2027.
All bids must be submitted as firm fixed prices inclusive of freight, packaging, handling, taxes, and duties with F.O.B. destination delivery to locations in Charlestown or Boston, Massachusetts. Award will be made to the lowest priced responsive bid from a responsible bidder, with the MBTA reserving the right to consider availability and committed delivery dates and to accept partial shipments and quantities exceeding estimates within 60 days of award. All work is subject to Federal Transit Administration Build America Buy America compliance requirements for steel, iron, and manufactured products. Contractors must maintain specified Commercial General Liability, Automobile Liability, and Workers' Compensation insurance with Massachusetts Division of Insurance-authorized carriers rated A- or better on an occurrence basis, naming the MBTA as additional insured with waiver of subrogation.
