About this file
This is a Government Technical Requirement Document from the Department of the Air Force, Headquarters 96th Test Wing (AFMC) at Eglin Air Force Base, dated 4 December 2025. The 782nd Test Squadron (782 TS), Seekers and Sensors Test Flight (RNWI) requires a SWIR/MWIR Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) Spatially resolved InfraRed Spectrometer (SpIRS) Hyper-spectral Imaging System (HIS). The primary requirement includes a spectrometer with spectral range of 1.5–5.5 µm, detector pitch ≤ 350 µm, focal plane array ≥ 8 x 8 with zero dead pixels, variable aperture for signal attenuation, and selectable spectral resolution from 1 to ≥ 32 cm⁻¹. The system must achieve minimum scan rates of 3 Igrams/sec at 1 cm⁻¹, 26 Igrams/sec at 8 cm⁻¹, 44 Igrams/sec at 16 cm⁻¹, and 71 Igrams/sec at 32 cm⁻¹, with a dynamic range ≥ 10000:1 and 10Gigabit Ethernet output.
The HIS must include three telescope assemblies (x0.5, x2, x6), a co-aligned bore sighting color video camera with manual varifocal lens (20–100mm, f#1.6), built-in GPS/IRIG B Timecode decoder interface, a 64-bit acquisition computer (Windows 11 or Linux), and software for data acquisition, analysis, and display. The system requires 120V, 60Hz operational voltage, a hermetically sealed enclosure, and must include manuals, installation, and on-site training. Additionally, an optional requirement exists for a MWIR/LWIR COTS SpIRS with identical specifications except for spectral range of 2.0–12 µm and user manuals only (no on-site training and installation specified). The document is certified by Jason McDonald, Director of Operations, 782 TS/RNWI.
