About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers file for a medical waste collection and disposal services contract for the 355th Medical Group at Davis Monthan Air Force Base. The Q&A provides detailed insights into the current medical waste management practices, including container types (43 gallon tubs with hinged lids and 31 gallon biohazard containers), pickup frequency (twice per month), and waste types (sharps, pathological, regular medical waste, pharmaceuticals, and vet clinic waste). Key details include an average of 20 containers per pickup, with containers weighing 50 lbs or less and requiring locking lids.
The current incumbent is Advant-Edge Solutions of Middle Atlantic, with the existing contract number FA4877-21-C-0004. The site map indicates multiple pickup locations across the facility, with the RMW (regulated medical waste) pickup locations marked. Additional notable information includes that emergency pickups have not been requested to date, pharmaceutical waste is kept in separate locked containers, and cytotoxic waste containers are very rare (approximately one per year). The facility anticipates approximately 40 total containers to be collected monthly, with minimal risk of overweight containers.
