SPECIFICATIONS
1.0 TITLE OF REQUIREMENT
Manual Diverter Roller (MDR) Tables
2.0 REQUIRING ORGANIZATION
TSA – Office of Security Capabilities (OSC)
3.0 INTRODUCTION
Provide a MDR with a Transition Table and Plexiglas barrier that mate up to the existing AT X-Ray unit’s cut-out and runs parallel to the existing re-composure rollers on the X-Ray Operator’s side. This ancillary equipment would be designed to allow the X-Ray Operator to immediately pull suspected accessible property through the existing X-Ray unit’s cut-out, onto the Transition Table, and push the accessible property down the gravity-fed MDR. The MDR will allow the accessible property to remain in the proper queuing order (First-In First-Out), while the Plexiglas provides a barrier between the traveling public and their carry-on bags which have been designated for additional screening.
4.0 BACKGROUND
With an overall objective of increasing throughput of the AT X-Ray units, reducing the secondary search cycle time, and maximizing staff utilization, the MDR will allow the TSA to realize the full potential of the AT X-Ray units and make the system operationally viable. During current checkpoint operations, there is a significant delay in X-Ray processing while the dynamic TSO responds to a call for a “bag check” as well as the requirement to re-run accessible property after the secondary search is completed. Immediately diverting suspected accessible property will mitigate the impact on X-Ray utilization by reducing the time the X-Ray process is blocked when the X-Ray Operator calls for a threat area search. When an alarmed item may not be resolved using the new OSARP procedures, the X-Ray operator will pull the accessible property through the existing X-Ray unit’s cut-out and onto the MDR. The suspected accessible property will then be sent to the end of the MDR for a target search. The MDR shall hold up to three bags at a weight of 75 lbs. per bag. A dynamic TSO will retrieve the suspected accessible property from the MDR in the order received to ensure proper queuing of images at the AVS.

5.1.2 Plexiglas Divider
The purpose of the Plexiglas is to provide a barrier between the traveling public and their carry-on bags which have been designated for additional screening.
The MDR shall have a 70% “smoke gray” tinted Plexiglas divider installed on the outside of the roller assembly mounted flush to the roller assembly in order to provide a barrier between the suspected property on the MDR and the cleared property on the re-composure rollers of the X-ray system.
The Plexiglas divider shall meet the following physical requirements:
Have a height of 61.0 cm (24 in), relative to the top surface of the Transition Table. The Plexiglas divider shall be adjustable to maintain a level plane along the length of the divider in relation to the plane of the Transition Table surface (See Figure 1);
Have a total length of 157.5 cm (62 in); Plexiglas shall extend past the end of the MDR by 33 cm (13 in).
Be 6.35 mm (1/4 in) thick with a ±0.4 mm (1/64 in) tolerance.
The edges of the Plexiglas divider shall be 3.18 mm (1/8 in) routered edges.
The Plexiglas shall be made available to order as a replacement part. If ordered as a replacement part, the Plexiglas shall include mounting hardware.
Dimensions of the Plexiglas shall be in accordance with the following drawing. Unless otherwise noted, all measurements allow for a ± 6.35 mm (1/4”) tolerance. Please note, the drawing below is in inches.
