3. Are all incumbent guards to be provided with the initial 40 hour weapons training?
Answer: Answer: All PSOs, incumbent or new, will need to be provided with the initial 40 hour weapons training in order to meet FPS standards.
42. REF: Exhibit 8C, Contractor-Provided Firearms and Ammunition: The RFP requires additional training hours if there is a weapons platform change or a weapons transition.
What is the current weapon being used on the contract? Is this considered a weapons platform or transition from the previous contract?
Answer: The firearm the incumbents currently carry is the Beretta 92, and, yes, it is a weapon platform change. However, a 9mm is not considered a change if the overall size does not exceed 7.5” long, 5.5” high, and 1.5” wide and weighs no more than 30 oz., excluding the magazine. All PSOs, incumbent or new, will need to be provided with the initial 40 hour weapons training in order to meet FPS standards.
76. Is the current weapons platform different from the weapon platform required under this contract? Is the 9mm considered a change from the current platform?
Answer: The firearm the incumbents currently carry is the Beretta 92, and, yes, it is a weapon platform change. However, a 9mm is not considered a change if the overall size does not exceed 7.5” long, 5.5” high, and 1.5” wide and weighs no more than 30 oz., excluding the magazine. All PSOs, incumbent or new, will need to be provided with the initial 40 hour weapons training in order to meet FPS standards.
77. Please identify which specific requirements of Exhibit 4C are applicable for incumbent PSOs:
• 3 hours of Transitional Weapon training (revolver to revolver; semi-automatic to semi-automatic)
• 8 hours of Weapons Platform Change training (revolver to semi-automatic pistol)
Answer: All PSOs, incumbent or new, will need to be provided with the initial 40 hour weapons training in order to meet FPS standards.
