Not applicable.
3.1.5 Interferences. The Contractor shall handle all interferences in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 0000, paragraph 3.3.5 (Interferences).
3.1.6 Location identification. Ensure that deck numbers, compartment names and frame numbers are used to document locations where each UT test and/or observation has been taken. Be aware that the frames are the ribs of the ship and serve as vertical boundaries for compartments. Compartment numbers consist of four parts, separated by hyphens, in the following sequence (example: 2-20-3-L):
1) Deck number
2) Frame number
3) Position relative to ship centerline
4) Use of compartment
3.1.7 Report submissions. Expedite analysis of all areas and prepare report for receipt within five business days. Provide detailed written report of findings to include at a minimum:
· Company performing assessment.
· Coast Guard Cutter being assessed.
· General condition of hull and inspected areas.
· Results of any ultrasonic testing.
· Identification of all locations of testing and areas of concern. (3.1.5)
· Severity of any areas of concern.
· Potential hazards to crew.
· Recommendation for further actions to be taken.
Report may be submitted as part of or addition to other reports as necessary
3.2 Testing particulars. The Contractor shall accomplish the following tasks:
3.2.1 Inspection.
3.2.1.1 Inspect the interior condition of the hull, to include but not limited to bilges, bulkheads, overheads, structural enforcements and frames for the presence of deformation, and any evidence of major corrosion or electronic action.
3.2.1.2 Inspect for deformation along the stern and keel areas, condition of butt-welded seams, double plates, lap seams and any signs of damaged plating or unusual waviness in the plating.
3.2.2 Ultrasonic Testing. Take UT shots as not to exceed 40 in locations designated by the Coast Guard representative or as suggested by contractor.. These tests shall be conducted in accordance with SFLC std Spec 0740, Appendix C. Mark up a copy of Coast Guard drawing 160B-WLIC_103_3 or similar to show all locations selected for measurement and record all measurements on a separate table noting the shot #, which will correlate to the number on the drawing, the original thickness of the plate, the measured thickness and the percent wastage.
3.2.3 Structural Analysis. Qualified individual(s) shall evaluate the structural integrity of all existing components that are found to be defective during the visual or ultrasonic testing.
