DRY-DOCK & REPAIRS OF CGC MUNRO (WHEC-724)Amendment 0003

A. Questions/Answers to Request for Clarification with regards to dry-dock & repairs of CGC MUNRO (WHEC - 724)

0001 Question: Work Item #21 (Temporary Services, Dry-dock Provide) requires the Contractor to provide refrigerated stores while Work Item #61 (ASW System Piping Renewal) work is occurring. Could that requirement be eliminated if the Contractor is able to provide temporary cooling water to the Cutter’s chiller boxes to keep them in operation while the ASW system work is occurring?

Answer: No, but if temporary cooling is provided to Cutter’s chill boxes then this qualifies as part of the temporary services in Work Item #21.

0002 Question: Work Item #22 (Temporary Messing, Provide) this requirement exists because the galley will be disrupted while Work Item #55 (Boiler 5 year Recertification) work is occurring. If the Contractor were able to provide steam from an outside source and therefore, to the galley, could the requirements of Work Item #22 be eliminated, as the Cutter could use their galley, and make and serve food?

Answer: Per the specification, when steam is down, provide messing. May provide alternate steam but still responsible for messing when galley steam is inoperable.

0003 Question: If the answer to Question 0002 is No, would it be acceptable to subcontract to a caterer, who would meet the requirements of the specification, but use the Cutter’s mess decks for the services?

Answer: The Government may agree to use the mess deck; however there should be clarification in what aspect the mess deck is going to be used. If it is for serving food to the crew only (not preparing it) then that is ok. If there is no eating establishment within the distance specified in the Solicitation, Catering is approved.

NOTES: A. ACKNOWLEDGE RECEIPT OF ALL AMENDMENTS IN PROPOSALS.

B. THE SOLICITATION PERIOD IS NOT EXTENDED.
