SUBJECT: Results of Pre-Renovation Roof Asbestos Survey
Multi-Purpose Building & Shop Building USCG Station Lake Worth Inlet, Riviera Beach 3300 Lake Shore Drive Riviera Beach, Florida 33404
Dear Ms. Fuentes:
A pre-renovation asbestos inspection was performed at the above-referenced location on September 4, 2014 by EE&G AHERA Certified Inspector Hiram Aguiar of EE&G Environmental Services, LLC (EE&G). The purpose of the survey was to determine the presence and condition of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) in the roof areas of the Multi-Purpose building and the Shop building scheduled for roof replacement at the above address.
DESCRIPTION OF SURVEY AREA
The Multi-Purpose building and Shop building were observed to be constructed of concrete and metal on a concrete slab foundation. The exterior walls were observed to be finished with painted stucco. The roof was finished with cement roof tiles and rolled asphalt on plywood. (See Appendix C Photographs).
INSPECTION METHODS AND LIMITATIONS
Each observed suspect material was described and sampled. All samples were collected according to procedures established by EPA in 40 CFR 763. Some ACM may have not been discovered due to inaccessibility (no reasonable access prevented by lack of large-scale destructive sampling). The results, conclusions, and recommendations contained in this report pertain to conditions observed at the time of the survey. By this report, EE&G makes no representation or assumptions as to the nature of past conditions or future occurrences.
INSPECTION RESULTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Asbestos was not detected in any of the samples of the roof cement tiles, roof field membrane (rolled felts), and roof cement/flashing. No further asbestos-related action is required at this time.
If any other suspect materials not listed herein are encountered during renovation (e.g.
insulation on pipes behind walls), then work must cease and sampling must be performed to determine material composition. See Appendix A for laboratory results, Appendix B for figures, and Appendix C for photographs.
