Responses to Questions for the United States Coast Guard (USCG) ATON SKIFF and PUNT Boat HSCG23-09-R-MNQ180

06/04/2009

1. Could you please provide a bit more info regarding the Expandable boat hook located in section 600-1 as far as what exactly that is? Is there a brand that is preferred? Any additional info would be appreciated. Also, is the floating marker light listed in the same section a strobe light?

Response: A Boat hook is a pole-handled hook with a point or knob on the back used especially to pull or push a boat, raft, or log into place. Any brand is acceptable as long as it is telescoping or expandable for the boat hook. A floating marker light is a flashing strobe light that floats and is attached to a life ring with the use of a line.

2. In section 100-1.4 of the spec it refers to the parent craft. Could you please give us some information regarding what exactly the parent craft is?

Response: The parent craft is a boat that the manufacturer currently produces and selected as the design template for the boat that will be produced for the Coast Guard.

3. We think we have a boat(s) that would work extremely well in this application but our boats are not aluminum. Would we still be considered?

Response: Per the specification, 100-3.3, “The boat hulls shall be constructed of aluminum”.

These questions and responses are hereby incorporated into the solicitation.
