About this file
This document contains a template and guidance for proposals being solicited under the Electronics Resurgence Initiative: Defense Applications program. DARPA seeks innovative proposals to develop, demonstrate, and apply emerging technologies from ERI to directly impact DoD or national security capabilities. Proposals should establish partnerships between defense transition partners, academia, and industry. An emphasis is placed on proposals that can impact existing or emerging programs of record. The template provides guidance on summarizing the technical rationale, approach, team organization, costs, milestones, schedule, and claims in a one slide proposal. It also requests information on the technical area and relevance to ERI programs. Quantitative performance goals and timelines should be listed.

Guidance for ERI:DA proposal summary slide
Technical Rationale and Approach(es) Team organization, cost, milestones and schedule Innovative Claims What is the problem facing a current or emerging defense application or process?
How is the problem being addressed today and what are the limits of current practice?
For TA1 and TA2 proposals, what ERI technologies are relevant to the problem?
What is your approach to leveraging or transitioning ERI technologies and why is your approach likely to succeed?
Include a graphic that summarizes the proposed effort if supportive.
What are you trying to do? Articulate your objectives using absolutely no jargon.
Outline clearly what goals and program metrics you will propose and how you plan to accomplish them.
If applicable, identify any trade-offs relevant to your approach (e.g. performance vs. SWaP).
What enabling technologies are needed to enable your approach, if any, and how will they be made available?
What are the major technical risk elements and how do you plan to address/mitigate them?
Include a figure that captures the technical approach if supportive.
Show the proposed team organization, cost, technical milestones (intermediate and end-of-phase milestones), and project schedule.
List the proposed deliverables: data, reports, software, simulations, prototype components, etc.
For TA1 proposals, identify a partnering ERI performer.
Identify a preferred mechanism for establishing relationships with DARPA and with current ERI performers.
Technical Area Which technical area of the BAA does this proposal address?
For TA1 and TA2, what existing ERI program or programs are relevant to this proposal?
List the proposed performance goals and timeline as quantitative metrics.
Are there any dual-use applications enabled by this technology?
